Commerce Township, MI – On Dec. 20 just after noon, Deputies responded along with the Commerce Township Fire Department (CTFD) on a report of a residential structure fire in the 2100 block of Bass Lake Rd. According to multiple 911 callers there were multiple explosions and the garage caught fire. One of the three residents in the home at the time sustained burns to his face and arms and was transported Ascension Providence Hospital in Novi by Star EMS. Based on observations by responding Deputies and Fire Fighters the residents appear to be running some form of Narcotics operation out of the home, and multiple butane tanks had exploded.
OUTCOME OF INCIDENT: The fire was extinguished by the CTFD and a Fire Investigator was requested to assist in a cause and origin investigation. Additionally, Deputies discovered evidence of narcotics processing on scene and requested Detectives from the Narcotics Enforcement Team respond to assist.
